Comedian Joe Lycett Applies to Run His Own London Pub for New Channel 4 Series
The six-part Channel 4 series will see Lycett serve drinks and host guests in a pub that opens live for one hour each week.
Comedian Joe Lycett will open his own East London pub, The Lycett Arms, as the backdrop for a new six-part live entertainment series on Channel 4, operating for only one hour each Friday night.
Channel 4 Head of Live Events Tom Beck commissioned the series after months of negotiations, with Lycett requiring a Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders to legally serve alcohol.
Each episode features a celebrity 'pub manager' pairing the East London venue with a real-world pub across Britain, creating what producers call a 'heartfelt tribute' to local watering holes through live comedy.
Produced by Bango Studios and My Options Were Ltd, executive producers Emily Hudd and Iain Wimbush describe the series as an 'exhilarating slice of live entertainment joy,' streaming on Channel 4 later this year.
Lycett jokingly described the project as a 'tax dodge,' yet confirmed he will meet obligations welcoming guests live Fridays at 10pm to brighten viewers' evenings across the six-week run.
