Climate activists attempt to disrupt Berlin Marathon

Climate activists of the Letzte Generation (Last Generation) protest movement attempted to disrupt the Berlin Marathon on Sunday (September 24), spraying orange paint onto the track within sight of the start two minutes before the go-ahead.

Ideal weather, 48,000 participants and a highlight: Tigst Assefa from Ethiopia set a new marathon world record in Berlin. The police previously thwarted an announced disruptive action by the last generation.

At the Berlin Marathon on Sunday, climate activists mingled from the association Letzte Generation (translates as “The Last Generation”), who threw their hallmark orange paint on the running track and attempted to block athletes.
