Cleveland Guardians and Miami Marlins meet in game 2 of series

On Friday, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Miami Marlins 3-2, with rookie pitcher Parker Messick carrying a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and Chase DeLauter slugging a 430-foot home run.
Against Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara, the Guardians capitalized early; Austin Hedges and Steven Kwan singled in the fifth to extend the lead to 3-0 before Alcantara took the loss.
Heriberto Hernandez broke up the no-hit bid with a 380-foot homer in the sixth, and Jimenez blasted a 407-foot home run in the seventh to cut the deficit to 3-2.
All-Star closer Cade Smith pitched a scoreless ninth inning to secure the victory, earning his major-league-best 28th save in the third consecutive day he appeared.
The Guardians lead the three-game series against the Marlins with both teams scheduled to square off again Saturday. Cleveland sits 49-46 overall while Miami holds a 52-43 record.
