Tientallen mensen demonstreerden tijdens de sinterklaasintocht in De Lier tegen zwarte piet. De demonstranten van Kick Out Zwarte Piet werden met drie bussen gebracht en hadden bordjes bij zich met teksten als 'zwarte piet mag niet'. Er waren ook tientallen voorstanders van zwarte piet, van wie sommigen met vuurwerk en eieren gooiden. In totaal zijn er negen mensen aangehouden, laat de politie weten.
