Cisco launches localized computing device to handle AI workflows
Cisco Unified Edge addresses stalled AI pilots by enabling real-time AI inferencing at distributed sites, with 75% of enterprise data processed at the edge this year, analysts say.
- On Nov. 3, 2025, Cisco announced Cisco Unified Edge at the Cisco Partner Summit in San Diego; Cisco said the platform is orderable now and expected to be generally available by year-end.
 - More than half of today's AI pilots are stalling due to infrastructure constraints, and the edge is forecasted to create and process 75 percent of enterprise data this year.
 - The platform integrates compute, networking, storage and security into Cisco Unified Edge, offering zero-touch deployment and centralized management via Cisco Intersight with observability through Splunk and ThousandEyes.
 - By extending data center capabilities to the edge, Cisco aims to enable real-time inferencing for retail stores, factory floors, financial services and healthcare facilities while supporting traditional and AI workloads without rip-and-replace upgrades.
 - Cisco cautioned that many features remain in development and timelines may change, while emphasizing Cisco's partner ecosystem will help organizations achieve their AI ambitions.
