"Elephants in the Mist," a queer and poetic thriller set in a community never before seen on the big screen. In this Nepalese forest, we hear them, we fear them, but we never see them.
Awarded at the last Cannes Film Festival, "Les Éléphants dans la misme", by Nepalese Abinash Bikram Shah, released this September 23rd in France. Focused around a community of transgender women in Nepal, the Kinnars, the film was very popular with the Indian and Nepalese press.
Both a documentary chronicle and a tense thriller, an amazingly aesthetically superb film with the Kinnar community in southern Nepal.
Nepali cinema exists outside Bollywood. The proof of this award-winning film by Abinash Bikram Shah in Cannes, in which a transgender community, the Kinnars, finds itself struggling with the false tolerance of the villagers.
