Popular Chocolate Bar Recall Expanded for Possible Health Risk
Federal regulators said 12 chocolate bar lines were added after an investigation identified a date ingredient lot as the likely source of contamination.
On Friday, the FDA announced that Spring & Mulberry is expanding its voluntary recall to include all 12 of its product lines over potential Salmonella contamination, affecting chocolate bars sold nationwide since August 2025.
Federal investigators identified a single lot of date ingredient as the most likely source of contamination, prompting Spring & Mulberry to recall all finished products made with that implicated batch.
Although all products tested negative for Salmonella, no illnesses have been reported to date; consumers should check packaging for lot numbers including 026040 and 026037 and discard items immediately.
Consumers who purchased affected products are urged not to consume them; those seeking refunds can email recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the packaging showing the batch code.
Recent months have seen multiple food recalls over Salmonella concerns, including Ghirardelli cocoa mixes and USDA-flagged meat products, as agencies remain vigilant against contamination affecting vulnerable populations.
