The trade of Michael Kesselring wasn’t unexpected but it was disappointing to move off this player so quickly. Injuries derailed his season and he never secured favorability with head coach Lindy Ruff. The Sabres essentially dumped his salary to move up 7 spots in the draft, probably for better trade capital.
