The vessel is broadcasting its Chinese crew and ownership as it heads south, a tactic used to secure passage through the waterway.
On Wednesday, the Chinese supertanker Yuan Hua Hu navigated the Strait of Hormuz laden with 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude, according to LSEG and Kpler ship-tracking data.
This voyage marks the third known passage by a Chinese vessel since the US-Israeli war began on February 28, occurring under Iran's $2 million-per-supertanker toll system.
Iran's blockade has stranded 1,550 vessels from 87 countries in the Persian Gulf, with 22,500 mariners trapped on these ships according to the U.S. military.

Iran has recently struck deals with Iraq and Pakistan to ship oil and liquefied natural gas, potentially normalizing Tehran's long-term command of the vital waterway.
