Chinese drug trafficking suspect handed to the US by Mexico pleads not guilty in NYC
Zhi Dong Zhang’s network laundered $77 million through 100+ shell companies and trafficked massive quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, U.S. officials said.

- Zhang remains detained until a January court date and faces related Georgia federal charges, with U.S. Department of Justice and DEA statements calling his extradition a major disruption to the trafficking network.
- Mexican custody records show he escaped house arrest in Mexico City in October 2024 and was later recaptured in Cuba, while coordinators booked travel and recruits called `banqueros` opened bank accounts.
