China Unveils 5-Year Plan for Battery Sector

CHINA unveiled a new five-year plan for its battery industry on Monday, aiming for the initial large-scale application of all-solid-state batteries by 2030 as the country accelerates the transition of next-generation battery technology from research to commercialization.
China aims to have large-scale production of so-called solid-state batteries in order by 2030. This is evident from plans by the Chinese government, reported on by the South China Morning Post, among others. According to Maarten Steinbuch, professor of systems and control engineering at TU Eindhoven, China is the first country to set a concrete annual target for the development of batteries that he considers to be ‘the holy grail’.
