On September 22, Nanjing human rights activist Shi Tingfu suddenly died in prison, drawing widespread attention. According to information released by Shi Tingfu's son, the prison authorities stated that the cause of death was "heart attack." However, his family has expressed doubts about this explanation.
Shi Tingfu, a 65-year-old human rights activist from Nanjing, was sentenced to three years in prison for "picking quarrels and provoking trouble" by the Chinese Communist Party. He was scheduled for release in January next year, but suddenly died of a heart attack in prison on September 22. His family stated that his condition had been relatively good recently and they could not accept the official explanation.
