White Sox Call up Top Prospect Braden Montgomery
Braden Montgomery joins Chicago’s roster after hitting .314 with 10 home runs in 56 minor league games.
On Tuesday, the Chicago White Sox called up outfielder Braden Montgomery, the club's No. 2 prospect, ahead of their three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Rate Field.
The 23-year-old was acquired in the December 11, 2024, Garrett Crochet trade with the Boston Red Sox and is the latest player from that transaction to reach the major leagues.
Montgomery excelled at Triple-A Charlotte, recording a 13.6 percent walk rate over 29 games and becoming the 12th player to debut for the Sox in 2026.
The White Sox recalled left-handed pitcher Joe Rock from Triple-A, optioned outfielders Rikuu Nishida and David Sandlin to Charlotte, and placed outfielder Austin Hays on the 60-day injured list.
Following outfielder Munetaka Murakami's hamstring injury, the White Sox face a challenging schedule against the Los Angeles Dodgers and Yankees, with Montgomery positioned to provide offensive depth.
