Chevrolet Bolt vs. Nissan Leaf, an Edmunds $30,000 EV comparison
Edmunds says the Bolt starts at $28,995 and the Leaf offers 303 miles of range, with both EVs earning the same overall score.
Edmunds evaluated the Chevy Bolt and Nissan Leaf, two affordable EVs priced around $30,000, finding both are compelling choices for budget-conscious car shoppers.
The Chevy Bolt LT starts at $28,995, making it today's most affordable new EV, while the Nissan Leaf, debuting in 2011, remains the longest-tenured EV on the market.
In Edmunds testing, the Leaf covered 310 miles versus the Bolt's 290 miles, though both accelerated from zero to 60 mph in about 7 seconds.
Gadget-Minded drivers may prefer the Leaf's wireless connectivity and 20 cubic feet of cargo space, whereas the Bolt offers Super Cruise hands-free driving and agile city handling.
Edmunds experts suggest choosing the Leaf for tech and utility, but prefer the Bolt for its value and nimble handling around town.
