Multiple Varieties of Ben’s Original Rice Being Recalled Due to Possible Stones

Ben’s Original recalled multiple rice products sold nationwide due to small stones that may cause injury; no related illnesses reported, FDA said.

  • On Oct. 10, Ben's Original announced a voluntary recall of three Ready Rice products: Long Grain White, Whole Grain Brown, and Long Grain & Wild Ready Rice, the FDA posted on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
  • Ben's Original said the issue stems from small, naturally occurring stones found after production, warning they could cause oral or digestive tract injury if consumed.
  • All recalled products carry a Best By date of 8/2026 and affected batches, including codes 533ELGRV22 and 533CMGRV22, were sold at United Markets, HEB, Amazon and Target.
  • Consumers should not consume the recalled rice and can contact Ben's Original Consumer Care at 1-800-548-6253 to initiate a return; no injuries have been reported so far.
  • Sold between August and September, the affected batches reached multiple national retailers including Target, Amazon, HEB, Piggly Wiggly and United Markets, and the FDA warned distribution may involve Associated Grocers, C&S and Dot Foods.
