Charlottesville to commemorate Mel’s Walk on May 30

For many decades, Mel’s Cafe on West Main Street served as a gathering spot and cultural institution for many in the city of Charlottesville. Vinegar Hill native Melvin Eugene Walker first opened the spot in 1984 after years working in food service. Walker passed away on May 29, 2024.
