NEWTON, N.C. – One person died and two others were injured after a collision in Catawba County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. It happened around 11:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the intersection of NC 16 and Buffalo Shoals Road. Troopers said a Hyundai Tucson ran a solid red light and collided with a Ford Explorer.
