Lake County unanimously named a section of Wellness Way after Charlie Kirk, marking the first official road dedication to the slain conservative activist in the U.S.
- On Thursday, Lake County officials unveiled signs renaming Schofield Road as the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway, installed days after the Lake County Commission approved the change.

- Lake County commissioners voted 5 to 0 after about two and a half hours of debate to approve the stretch covering Wellness Way / Schofield Road from U.S. 27 to the Orange County line.
- Turning Point USA said more than 120,000 inquiries surged after Kirk's memorial, New College of Florida plans a statue, and the U.S. Senate led by Sen. Rick Scott passed an October 14 National Day of Remembrance.
- Amid broader efforts across Florida, other counties like Clearwater and Miami-Dade consider renaming roads for Kirk, but no approvals occurred, while Lake County residents and meeting speakers objected and the Florida Department of Education launched a probe.
