Toronto real estate CEO among victims of violent Bridle Path home invasion
Police say three masked men forced entry, shot three family members and beat the wife with a hammer in a targeted-style attack.
On Thursday, three masked men forced their way into a home on Hyde Park Circle in Toronto's Bridle Path before dawn, shooting a father and his two adult daughters while striking his wife with a hammer before fleeing in an SUV.
Toronto Police Service Inspector Kristy Smith confirmed all four victims were hospitalized with injuries while investigators examine whether a gunshot victim who walked into a local hospital shortly after is one of the suspects.
During the encounter, the suspects demanded valuables at gunpoint. "There was a struggle," and "the suspects fired their guns multiple times," Inspector Smith revealed regarding the violent interaction.
Reports identify the victims as MAC Group CEO David Morton and his family. One neighbor said the incident felt different from earlier crimes, happening to "a more normal person."
While home invasions in Toronto fell nearly 40% in 2025, Inspector Smith called the recent attack "frightening and disturbing," and the area remains "a serious concern for both police and residents.
