Celtic Apologise to Hearts After Chaotic Premiership Title Pitch Invasion
League chiefs said referee Don Robertson ended the match after Celtic fans entered the pitch and disorder followed a title-clinching goal.
The SPFL confirmed yesterday's Celtic and Hearts match ended normally, rejecting claims that referee Don Robertson prematurely stopped play following a pitch invasion during the title-deciding victory.
Celtic fans invaded the Parkhead turf after Callum Osmand scored the team's third goal, sparking confusion and hostile interactions with Hearts players in the final moments of extra time.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland reported ten arrests in the Trongate and four at the stadium, while two officers and three members of the public suffered injuries during post-match disorder.
Police Scotland urged Celtic to "be more accountable," while the SPFL condemned the supporters' conduct as "wholly unacceptable" and warned that entering the field puts participants at risk.
The SPFL noted that entering the pitch has been a criminal offense in England and Wales since 1991, as league chiefs await a match delegate's report on the incidents.
