Syrian government declares ceasefire after clashes with Kurdish fighters
ALEPPO, Syria (AP) — Syria's minister of defense announced a ceasefire Tuesday after overnight clashes between security forces and Kurdish fighters in neighborhoods of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo.
In Syria, the Transitional Defence Minister announces on X a global and immediate ceasefire between government forces and Kurdish forces, following violent clashes on Monday evening in Aleppo, northern Syria.
There have been clashes between the two sides since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime last December.
The overnight clashes erupted at a time when tensions are escalating between the central authorities in Damascus and Kurdish authorities in the northeast.
