FIR Filed over Cyberattacks on CBSE Portal, No Data Breach Reported

CBSE said the attacks were blocked with 24/7 monitoring and no data breach, even as lakhs of students depend on the portal.

  • On Friday, the Delhi Police registered a case under the Information Technology Act after the Central Board of Secondary Education filed a complaint regarding coordinated cyber attacks on its Post-Result Services Portal.
  • Attackers sought "to destabilise the platform, deny access to legitimate users, and attempt unauthorized extraction of information," the board said, while students previously reported technical glitches and discrepancies in Class 12 answer sheets.
  • All attacks were successfully mitigated through 24/7 monitoring, with the board confirming no data breach or system compromise occurred during the incidents.
  • Following widespread allegations of mismanagement, the Central Board's Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta were transferred on Tuesday.
  • Head of the Capacity Building Commission Radha Chauhan will lead a one-member inquiry committee to investigate the board's procurement of On-Screen Marking Services.
