CBS Denies Joe Rogan to ‘60 Minutes’ Rumor. Here’s How It Spread.
CBS News called the rumor false as it searches for a new 60 Minutes host after Anderson Cooper’s farewell and Scott Pelley’s ouster.
CBS News spokesperson Jeremy Adler told Forbes on Thursday that viral reports claiming podcaster Joe Rogan was under consideration to replace Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes are "false."
Radar Online first published the rumor, which was amplified this week by the Austin American-Statesman, citing unnamed sources claiming hiring the 58-year-old Rogan would be "strategy" to reach the "massive MAGA audience CBS has struggled to reach."
Internal turmoil has plagued the program since editor-in-chief Bari Weiss took the helm in October 2025, leading to departures of veteran newsman Scott Pelley, executive producer Tanya Simon, and correspondents Sharyl Attkisson and Cecilia Vega.
Pelley was dismissed Tuesday after confronting Executive Producer Nick Bilton, accusing Weiss of "murdering" the program; Weiss claimed the network tried to "engage with Scott Pelley and to find a way back," though Pelley denied such efforts.
Media Bias/Fact Check ranks Radar Online as having "low" credibility due to consistent promotion of propaganda and conspiracies, as CBS News navigates executive changes to stabilize its most storied weekly news program.
