Casino idea is dead for now, according to Mayor Brandon Bochenski. 'We tried,' he said.

The state Legislature rejected a law change needed for the tribe to operate a casino outside traditional boundaries, halting a $280 million project expected to employ 800 people.

GRAND FORKS – A proposal to bring a tribal casino to Grand Forks appears to be dead, with no news or updates since the plan was quashed by the state Legislature earlier this year. Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski said there is always a possibility things can reverse course in the coming years, it likely isn’t going to happen anytime soon. “I think until the state Legislature has a change of heart,” the plan will remain dormant, Bochenski said…
