CASEY: Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program celebrates half a century

Montgomery County’s Emergency Assistance Program – MCEAP – started with roughly $10,000 when it began helping residents of the New River Valley in 1975. Last year, the tax-exempt nonprofit delivered nearly $700,000 worth of goods and services to needy people. On April 26, it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a day-long celebration, food-collection drive and fundraising raffle.
