International road transport operators are obliged to restructure their routes after the Lithuanian authorities have announced the closure of border crossing points between Lithuania and Belarus. According to the National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA), the measure has been adopted for national security reasons, in the context of repeated incidents at the border caused by suspected meteorological balloons from Belarus.
As Lithuania closes its border with Belarus, the Secretary General of the International Transport and Logistics Alliance (ITLA) says the transport logistics chain will be disrupted, and losses could reach tens of millions of euros.
