Carriage horse Ryder dies months after collapse sparked animal abuse case
Ryder, the frail carriage horse who collapsed over the summer and became a symbol of animal abuse when a video of him sprawled on the ground and being flogged by his carriage driver emerged, has died, an animal rights group announced Monday.

The horse named Ryder “was recently humanely euthanized due to his medical condition and age,” said a statement issued by Maple Hill Farms, an upstate horse sanctuary where he was taken following his collapse.
