Carrefour Belgium will be testing the AI-powered Caper shopping carts from the American company Instacart. These smart carts promise to bring the convenience of online shopping to brick-and-mortar supermarkets.
Carrefour is tapping into artificial intelligence right on the sales floor. The chain's Belgian branch plans to test Instacart's intelligent Caper Carts, which automatically recognize inserted items, weigh fresh food, and display the value of purchases in real time. According to RetailDetail, the pilot will involve two Carrefour stores in Waterloo and will be the first implementation of this technology in Belgium.
