Carowinds Unveils New Log Flume Ride with Tallest Drop in the World
The ride will break three world records and reach 50 mph as Carowinds replaces the retired Rip Roarin' Rapids.
On Monday, Carowinds announced Rip Roarin' Falls, a record-breaking water ride opening in 2027 themed after an abandoned lumber mill.
Located on the former site of Rip Roarin' Rapids, the new attraction replaces the ride retired in 2019; Carowinds president Bridgette Bywater calls it a "mix of a family ride and a thrill ride."
The 6.5-minute ride spans 2,240 feet at speeds up to 50 mph, setting three world records including the tallest log flume drop at 100 feet and the tallest reverse camelback at 32 feet.
To celebrate the announcement, Carowinds launched a new membership program at $8 a month, providing unlimited park access through 2027 for the ride's debut.
Construction is underway for the ride, which requires a 35-inch height minimum for accompanied guests and will be accessible through the Thrill Zone section near Fury 325.
