Carnival Corp. Shuffles Ships Between Cunard, P&O, and Holland America
In May 2029, the 3,000-capacity Queen Anne will transfer from Cunard to the P&O Cruises fleet following her final 2028/29 World Voyage. The ship will undergo reimagining and renaming before joining the UK-based operation.
Carnival Corporation is shuffling vessels across three brands to maximize fleet financial strength. Company president Paul Ludlow says this strategy moves ships to where individual strengths best support guest demand and long-term portfolio direction.
After a farewell season, P&O Cruises will transfer the 2,000-capacity Arcadia to Holland America Line in late 2029. She will join the fleet of 12 ships following drydock renovations and a rebrand.
The changes reduce Cunard's fleet to three ships, creating a more unified identity centered on its remaining Queens. Queen Anne will increase P&O Cruises' capacity by nearly 1,000 berths, introducing a new ship class.
Holland America Line will integrate Arcadia as an extension of its Evolution program, modernizing Vista-Class ships across the fleet. Carnival Corporation additionally plans to upgrade Queen Mary 2 in 2027 to ensure the ocean liner continues delighting guests.
With the Arcadia, the Holland America Line fleet will grow to twelve ships by 2029. The new addition also complements the "Holland America Evolution" modernization program.
