Southaven Native Blaze Jordan Called up by Cardinals
Blaze Jordan is set to debut after hitting .313 with 11 home runs at Triple-A, while Nolan Gorman is optioned after a career-low slump.
On Friday, the St. Louis Cardinals selected rookie infielder Blaze Jordan from Triple-A Memphis to make his major league debut against the Minnesota Twins.
Seeking a change at third base, the Cardinals optioned infielder Nolan Gorman to Triple-A on Friday after Gorman slumped to a career-low.194 batting average.
Jordan arrives after an impressive run at Triple-A, where the 23-year-old batted.313 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 57 games this year.
The Cardinals also recalled right-hander Chris Roycroft, optioned right-hander Hunter Dobbins to Triple-A, and moved infielder Ramon Urias to the 60-day injured list.
Acquired from the Boston Red Sox last year in a trade for pitcher Steven Matz, Jordan provides the club with an intriguing long-term infield option.
