Cannes Film Festival unveils diverse line-up of veteran stars and fresh talent

Cannes Film Festival organisers have revealed the films competing for the coveted Palme d'Or prize on Thursday. Six women are among the 19 directors nominated, including the 2021 winner, French filmmaker Julia Ducournau with her new film Alpha.

From May 13th to 24th, the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will be held in Cannes. It is from Paris this Thursday, April 10th that the films in competition for the official selection were revealed by Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Festival.

The 43-year-old film director will compete at the next Cannes Festival with his latest film, Sirat. Carla Simón will also be present at the French festival with Romeria, which opts for the Palm de Oro.
