Canadian manufacturers call for tariffs on global imports of wood products
Canadian Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne announced that the Canadian International Trade Tribunal has been directed to investigate imports of wood cabinets, vanities, hardwood flooring, and storage furniture.
The Tribunal has 270 days to determine whether increased imports are causing or threatening serious injury to Canadian wood manufacturers and to recommend next steps.
Canadian wood manufacturers welcome the initiation of a trade investigation into wood imports, but note that this investigation must be followed by the immediate imposition of provisional customs duties on foreign products entering the country.
Alliance claims that job losses and company closures have already taken place. The post Manufacturers want tariffs on wood imports appeared first on Les Affaires.
