University of Michigan rising sophomore Syla Swords hit the game-winning basket, converting a layup on a sideline out-of-bounds play with 1.4 seconds left to lead Canada to a 76-75 double overtime win over Argentina to earn the bronze medal at the 2025 AmeriCup on Sunday evening (July 6). It marked the third medal of Swords' international career and second at the senior level.
In its last presentation at the AmeriCup 2025, the Women’s Major Team lost to Canada in an additional double time (76 to 75) and remained fourth in the competition.
