Survey of Jewish University Students Finds Widespread Antisemitism on Campuses
The survey found 84% of Jewish students say antisemitism is a serious campus problem, and 63% of those who reported incidents were dissatisfied.
- On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026, a national report by the Association for Canadian Studies found that 95.7 per cent of Jewish students experienced or witnessed antisemitism on Canadian campuses over the previous 12 months.
- Jack Jedwab, president of the Association for Canadian Studies, described the findings as "systemic" rather than "isolated or episodic," noting the prejudice shapes student safety, well-being, and campus participation.
- Eighteen per cent of antisemitic incidents involved faculty members, with students reporting hostile comments about Zionists during academic assignments and professors pressuring attendance at pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
- The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and allied organizations issued a joint statement demanding "concrete actions," as 70 per cent of Jewish students reported universities do not take antisemitism seriously.
- Joe Roberts, executive director of Jewish Tulsa, reported his organization received inquiries from families representing roughly 2,000 people considering leaving Canada due to antisemitism concerns.
