Canada names Olympic roster for luge, with 5 first-time Olympians
Canada's six-member luge team includes five first-time Olympians competing in the debut women's doubles event, following strong results at the 2025 World Championships, officials said.
- On Jan. 25, 2026, Canada named six athletes to its Olympic luge team for Milano Cortina 2026, with five first-time Olympians and Trinity Ellis as the only returning competitor.
- Strong showings at the 2025 FIL Luge World Championships on home ice in Whistler shaped selections, with Embyr-Lee Susko finishing fourth and Kailey Allan and Beattie Podulsky key to Canada’s mixed-relay bronze.
- Susko and Ellis will line up in women's singles while Allan and Podulsky enter the Olympic debut of women's doubles and Wardrope and Zajanski compete in men's doubles, with two Whistler-area athletes rounding out the roster.
- Coaches led by Robert Fegg will accompany the athletes, including Duncan Kenney, Tim Neenan and team leader Sam Edney, as Team Canada builds on two Olympic luge medals from PyeongChang 2018.
- Performance questions persist for Devin Wardrope and Cole Zajanski after an interrupted winter, though Cole Zajanski's rehab plan strengthened his shoulder and Sam Edney called the young team proven.
