- The targeted EV and canola tariff arrangement last week saw Canada agree to market access for Chinese-made electric vehicles in exchange for lower Chinese tariffs on canola and other products.
- Explaining Ottawa's approach, Prime Minister Mark Carney said, `What we've done with China is to rectify some issues that have developed in the last couple of years` and Canada `respects our commitments` to the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement.
- Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand noted ministers will handle the issue and she will travel to the U.S. next week, while Marc Miller said the government will control what we control.
