I’m a train fanatic. I romanticize cross-country journeys and mourn the decline of passenger rail. So, when I heard about Alto, the proposed high-speed rail line between Toronto and Quebec City, my first reaction was, well, … complicated. This project, with its promises of speed and sustainability, feels like a train I’d very much like to board. But, while a part of me is ready to grab my ticket, another part is slamming on the brakes.
