Vice President Martin Bally is on leave amid an internal probe after a former employee sued alleging racist remarks, drug use admission, and retaliation after reporting.
- On Thursday, Robert Garza filed a lawsuit in Wayne County Circuit Court alleging racist remarks, drug-use admissions and retaliation by Campbell Soup Company, naming Martin Bally and J.D. Aupperle as defendants.
- The recording occurred during a November meeting last year when Martin Bally allegedly made remarks that Robert Garza secretly recorded, and Garza reported them to J.D. Aupperle in January 2025 before being fired Jan. 30, 2025.
- In the one-hour-and-15-minute recording, Martin Bally makes racist comments about Indian workers, disparages Campbell's food products as bioengineered chicken, and admits to using marijuana edibles at work.
- Campbell Soup Company said its soups use 100% real chicken and No Antibiotics Ever chicken meat from long-trusted, USDA-approved U.S. suppliers, calling the recording's comments inaccurate.
- Garza and his attorney said the situation has been very hard and they look forward to obtaining justice after he was blindsided 20 days later and took 10 months to find another job.
