The large amounts of snow are causing problems for train traffic. All SJ trains north of Gävle are cancelled until Monday at 10 am, on the orders of the Swedish Transport Administration.
Despite – or perhaps thanks to – all the warnings about difficult road conditions, lots of snow and strong winds, the traffic situation is very calm on Sunday morning, according to the rescue services. However, yellow weather warnings for snowfall are still in effect locally along the coast in Småland and Östergötland. In Norrland it will be cold.
The yellow weather warning for Sörmland is now gone, but the road conditions on several of the Sörmland roads are considered difficult.
SMHI has issued a new yellow warning. Heavy snowfall is expected over Värmland and Dalsland on Monday.
SMHI's snow warning was initially supposed to apply to large parts of Sunday. But it expired during the night – and now there is even a slight chance of sunshine. “It's much calmer now,” says Toni Fuentes, meteorologist at SMHI.
