Stockton Man Accused of Trying to Send Guns, Money to ISIS
- On Tuesday, federal authorities arrested 33-year-old Ammaad Akhtar of Stockton for allegedly trying to send weapons, money, and clothing to ISIS in support of the terrorist organization.
- Since February 2025, Akhtar communicated online with a law enforcement officer he believed was an ISIS member and expressed support for violent jihad and overseas fighting.
- On June 23, Akhtar held a face-to-face meeting with an undercover agent, during which he handed over two loaded firearms, six magazines, $400, binoculars, and clothing, while expressing allegiance to ISIS.
- Court documents reveal Akhtar sought instructions for explosives, vowed to "make a boom" at a crowded event, said, "may Allah destroy our enemies," and pledged ongoing financial support.
- If found guilty, Akhtar could be sentenced to a maximum of two decades behind bars and required to pay a $250,000 penalty, underscoring federal authorities’ heightened focus on thwarting foreign terrorist activities within the United States.
