A Calgary couple in Dover say two men posing as buyers attacked them Saturday after Jason Nguyen had listed an expensive laptop and the men arrived to test it.
The Better Business Bureau warns criminals often target sellers of high-value electronics on social media, urging use of public, monitored meeting spots instead of home, Calgary Police also advise.
Witnesses say the attack unfolded as assailants used bear spray on Jason Nguyen and assaulted him while Nanh Au grabbed a shovel to strike an attacker, with the incident lasting about 60 seconds.
Calgary police say police and fire crews ventilated the home and called the assault extremely serious, asking south Dover residents to review footage from Saturday between 3 and 5 p.m.
Detectives are looking into whether this attack links to similar robberies, and Jason Nguyen says other Calgarians who say they were targeted have contacted him, with the couple speaking out to warn others.
