CAA’s Worst Roads Campaign Fires up, Will Your Street Make the List?
CAA survey shows 80% of members worry about road conditions and 70% say maintenance is insufficient, aiming to guide municipal repairs through public nominations.
- The Canadian Automobile Association launched its annual Worst Roads campaign, inviting Ontarians to nominate problematic routes for repair consideration until April 17.
- A new CAA survey revealed eight in 10 members worry about road conditions, with nearly 70 per cent believing current maintenance efforts are insufficient.
- Brian Pirvu, government relations consultant for CAA, noted vehicle repairs due to potholes cost between $500 and $2,000, yet nearly 80 per cent of Ontarians complain to family or mechanics rather than reporting issues to government.
- "When Ontarians speak up and nominate roads they want to see repaired, we consistently see action," said Teresa Di Felice, Assistant Vice President, Government and Community Relations for CAA South Central Ontario, citing Innisfil's 7th Line repairs.
- Once nominations close, the organization will compile and release the Top 10 Worst Roads list later this year, including regional top five rankings to guide future infrastructure priorities.
