Myanmar rebels pause fighting amid clean-up after deadly earthquake

Rebel officials are using elephants to help remove debris from roads closed by a massive earthquake that struck the southeast Asian country of Myanmar last week.

The People's Defense Forces (PDF) declares a two-week partial ceasefire in earthquake-affected areas of Myanmar.

This partial ceasefire will extend over two weeks for " offensive military operations, with the exception of defensive actions, in areas affected by the earthquake from 30 March 2025", announced the Popular Defence Forces (PDF).
