Burkina Faso’s Council of Ministers has adopted a bill to restore the death penalty, targeting offenses such as treason, terrorism, and espionage, authorities said.
The bill on the reform of the penal code of the Burkina Faso military regime also punishes "the promotion and homosexual practices". Capital punishment was no longer applied in the country since the late 1980s.
The Burkina Faso military regime will reintroducing the death penalty code, which was abolished in 2018, announced by the Council of Ministers, reports AFP.
