Last year, a UN mission in Haiti was decided - the goal: to combat criminal gangs that control large parts of the country. Now, the Bundeswehr is to help the mission out of the air with the transfer of equipment.
The Bundeswehr wants to support the UN mission in the Caribbean Republic of Haiti, plagued by poverty and gang violence. The German armed forces would provide "short-term" air transport capacities to help with the relocation of equipment and materials, the Federal Ministry of Defence announced on Saturday in Berlin. With the support, Germany was shown to be a "reliable partner of United Nations peace operations".
