Bublé says Whitecaps need more than private money to stay in Vancouver
On Wednesday, Canadian singer Michael Bubl and television personality Drew Scott confirmed they have been approached about helping keep The Whitecaps in Vancouver, though neither committed to joining a local ownership group.
The Whitecaps have been for sale since 2024, with ownership citing revenue challenges at Place Stadium, while a U.S.-based investor group has submitted a bid to move the Major League Soccer team to Las Vegas.
Scott said someone contacted him recently about joining a bid, while Bubl noted he received an inquiry a long time ago, as both are currently focused on the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Giants.
Bubl suggested any long-term solution for the club would require support beyond private investment alone, stating, "I assume from the outside that this is much bigger than just private investment."
Whitecaps chief executive officer and sporting director Axel Schuster stated the club needs significant improvements in revenue streams to remain viable in Vancouver, noting more than 100 parties have been contacted about a potential sale.
