An 18-month-old boy discovered in a Phoenix suburb pool in February was declared dead, then found breathing hours later in a Mercy Gilbert Medical Center 'cold room,' according to recently released police records.
Two Gilbert police officers saw signs of life multiple times before medical staff pronounced the boy dead. A doctor told an officer, 'Please do your thing and let me do my thing,' according to the report.
Gilbert police are recommending negligence charges against the parents, while The Maricopa County Attorney is reviewing the case Monday.
Mercy Gilbert Medical Center conducted a thorough review of care provided, calling the incident 'a heartbreaking situation' while declining to release further details.
