At the meeting, chaired by European Commissioners for Trade and Economic Security, Maros Sefcovic; Agriculture and Rural Development, Christophe Hansen; and Animal Health and Welfare, Olivér Várhelyi, the EC discussed with ministers the latest proposals put forward to assist producers, including the temporary suspension of tariffs on ammonium and urea, which the EU applies to third countries.
The European Commission has proposed this Wednesday to temporarily interrupt the application of tariffs on fertilizers, as part of a broader package of actions discussed with the agriculture ministers of the Member States, at an informal meeting at which the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the main challenges of the European agricultural sector have also been addressed.
