British Land Appoints New Chief Executive From Oxford
On Tuesday, 170-year-old developer British Land appointed Joanne McNamara as its first female chief executive officer, succeeding Simon Carter after his five-year tenure.
Carter announced his exit earlier this year, while McNamara brings more than 20 years of real estate experience, having joined Oxford Properties Group Inc. in 2010 to oversee significant transactions.
Chairman William Rucker described McNamara as 'one of Europe's most respected real estate professionals,' as British Land manages almost £16 billion in assets.
McNamara will join British Land by the end of November after serving a six-month notice period, while shares rose 1.9% on Tuesday following the announcement.
Equity analyst Aarin Chiekrie at Hargreaves Lansdown noted British Land remains well-positioned for growth, citing strong occupancy rates and exposure to the science and technology sector.
